The weekly “pazar,” which is what the Turks refer to as the local bazaars held outdoors and on the streets throughout cities, towns and villages in Turkey, has long been a steadfast tradition and a wonderful way to connect with Turkish culture.
⇒Here is a great article about Turkish markets with some very interesting information, tips and what Evening Market means
As the market is quietening down, the teashops become very busy, and it is not unusual to see young lads running from stall to stall with silver trays laden with teacups. Evening markets in Turkey are all about enjoying a leisurely shopping experience whilst socializing as the traders begin winding down from the hot and hectic market earlier in the day.
We would love you to join us to see first-hand this unique insight into market life. It’s a wonderful way to learn about local cultures and get a true feel for the stall holders and their daily lives and routines.
Traveling towards Koycegiz whilst the majority of visitors are beginning to return, enjoying the slower pace of the market and the spectacular views of the mountains that surround the Koycegiz – Dalyan Special Protection Area, followed by mooring in a bay where we can enjoy the sunset with a delicious home cooked evening meal, will be an amazing experience even for those who regularly enjoy Koycegiz Market trips on Mondays.
Tour Program
We will meet at our office on Gulpinar Street at 12.45pm and take a short walk to our boat in the harbour at 13.00pm once all our guests have arrived. Our boat is a very comfortable double-decked boat with plenty of space and ample facilities for everyone. There are plenty of sun-beds available for all, as well as spaces in the shade should you prefer.
Boat Ride Towards Koycegiz
You will be offered complimentary tea, coffee and snacks to enjoy once on board the boat. As we sail to the lake we will offer the option to stop along the way to relax and swim or simply just take in the magnificent views. At Volkan’s Adventures we always like to offer you that little bit more, so our route across the lake will incorporate small islands, inlets and coves that no other trip will share with you.
Koycegiz Market
At approximately 15.00 we will arrive in Köyceğiz, the perfect time to join the beginning of the Akşam Pazarı (Evening Market). Whilst in the market you can purchase clothes, handbags, fruits and vegetables, spices, Turkish delight and much, much more. Your guide will lead you to the market and interact with stallholders, sampling their fresh produce and homemade gozleme! You can meet with locals who bring their home grown products and share with you their stories; stroll along the beautiful lake side; or just treat yourself and sit, relax and take in the beautiful view that surrounds you while you watch the world go by in one of the small intimate cafes on the lake edge.
Dinner
Our boat will depart from Köyceğiz at around 17.30 and make our way out across the lake to find the perfect spot to watch the sunset as we enjoy our dinner which will be served between 19.00pm and 19.30.
Dinner will be a traditional BBQ with chicken or meatballs. Fish, vegan and vegetarian option can be available if requested at the time of booking and all dietary requirements can be accommodated. The accompanying open buffet will have plenty of salads, breads and cold mezzes all freshly prepared. After dinner we will slowly return to Dalyan under the setting sun arriving at approximately 21.30.
Come with us on a very special journey and experience the market like never before, an evening we are certain you will never forget.
Tour Reviews
Great chance to try locally grown or prepared fresh market foods that give just a taste of what the region has to offer!
Volkan and crew provide group specific trips and more than catered to our every need with fun surprises along the way!
I personally thought this would be a nice “old ladies” tour but was pleasantly surprised by the experience (as a 40 year old man) !
Many thanks to Vulkan, Lisa, Mutlu and the fun group we had the pleasure of joining!
Cheers
Loved the stunning array of fresh vegetables available and the taste of them was delicious, really wholesome. The crossing at times was a little choppy due to the wind, but due to the expertise and knowledge the boat crew, we were anchored in a really shielded spot, water as calm as a millpond. They then prepared a veritable feast for our delight, with more than enough to satisfy the hungriest of appetites. Yet another resounding success for Volkan and his company.
