You may or may not have been to Marmaris before, and maybe you think of Marmaris as being best known for sun loungers, beaches and bars. Whilst there is definitely no denying the presence of McDonald’s, baseball caps and bargain beers, scratch the surface a little deeper and there is evidence that the town, has not lost all its tradition, charm and culture.
On this new trip for 2021, Murat will show you that there is more to this town that meets the eye. A fun packed day that that will create unforgettable memories, on this exclusive trip you will get to see some historic sites, visit the old town and its bazaar for a little retail therapy. Then travel a little further taking in the gorgeous coastal views and spend time relaxing in two beautiful bays followed by a delicious dinner at the bustling harbour.
Our amazing day will start as we collect you from your accommodation between 08.00am and 08.30am. After a 45-minute drive we will stop at a wonderful restaurant where you will enjoy an immaculate Turkish breakfast full of sweet jams and honeys, delicious cheeses, perfectly harvested fruits and vegetables, freshly baked breads, organically grown olives and much more. At this luxurious restaurant, you will sit beside the stunning aquamarine river, watching wildlife such as ducks and geese.
Around 10.30 we will head off on the short journey to Marmaris, there will be a photo opportunity along our journey to take in the breath taking views. Once we arrive in Marmaris we will spend 2.5 hours there. Firstly, we have complimentary coffee at the harbour at Starbucks followed by a short walk through the narrow winding streets of the old town. This will lead us up to the magnificent castle that has stood proud above the town dating back to 1044 BC. The castle has amazing views over the old town and harbour, perfect for budding photographers or to snap that selfie. On our way, back down you will have free time to take in a little shopping in the grand bazaar or just sit and relax with a drink in the harbour watching the world go by.
Next, we will drive to our restaurant for lunch; you will have the opportunity to sample one of the area’s Top 10 pide restaurants in Turkey as voted for by the National newspaper. After a beautiful lunch at around 3.30pm we will head along the coast for a short 15-minute drive to our next stop at Orhaniye. This beautiful bay allows you to walk out to sea on a long sand bank; you will look like your actually walking on water. It is a natural surprise for the visitors. The sandy underwater bottom divides the gulf into two parts and you are able to walk along the sea while the depth doesn’t increase as you walk far away from the shore. There is myth that dates back to 300BC Surrounding this bay. It is believed that the daughter of the Bybassos king was trying to escape from pirates and she built the bank as she was not a good swimmer, by filling her dress with sand and tipping it out to make a path, but she lost her way in the dark and unfortunately died whilst trying to escape. Here you will be offered a complimentary drink in the beach side café.
After a short stop here, we will head on along the coast to our next stop at Selimiye. A beautiful fishing village, here you will have a swimming opportunity in crystal clear water, a chance to walk around the unspoilt village , taking in the quaint little gift shops and local bars and cafes. Around 6.30-7pm, we will head back to Marmaris and have a delicious dinner in one of the most beautiful restaurants by the harbour. After a starter of mixed mezes you can pick your main course from the Menu, whilst your meal is being prepared you can relax and spend time watching the boats returning and chatting to your newfound friends.
After dinner, tired, happy and full of memories, we will head back to the bus arriving back in Dalyan around 10.00 -10.30 pm.
