A Brand New tour for 2021, Bonafide Turkey will give you a glimpse of how the Turks like to holiday: Very chilled, relaxed and enjoying the beautiful surroundings to the fullest. We will reveal some secret locations that are not on a usual European tourist route, with not a typical tourist in site. Volkan will help you blend in with his special charm not that you will need much help as the Turks are extremely welcoming to foreigners, and you never know you may even pick up a few Turkish words and most probably make new Turkish friends.
We will pick you up from your accommodation between 8.30-9.00am, then the Bonafide Turkey journey begins with a drive to a traditional little Turkish village called Kargi. The village has an amazing atmosphere and we will stop at a local Turkish Restaurant in beautiful surroundings where we will eat as the locals do. The restaurant is a little special as it has its own nomad museum made up mainly of farming implements used by the Yoruk Nomads, Even those not interested in old things will find something to interest them there. You will be able to spend a little time wandering around and looking at the amazing artefacts. You will be treated to an amazing Turkish Breakfast It is fantastic, starting with a sizzling frying pan placed in the centre of the table filled with fried eggs. This is followed by bread straight from the oven, pancakes and an amazing selection of home jams, cheeses, yoghurt, honey, juices etc. all sourced from fresh local ingredients.
After a hearty breakfast and chats with the locals, we will head off on the bus to our next stop. The next part of our Journey takes us on a scenic drive through beautiful forests up into the hills. We will arrive at our hidden camp place after approximately 30 minutes, and you will see exactly why we call it hidden, it is a little corner of paradise that is geographically perfect. The camp is located in the forest under the cooling shade of the trees, perfect to escape the blazing mid-day sun.
This Quirky little place is a wonderful break from hustle and bustle of everyday life and there is plenty to do there. You can relax on one of the floating Kosk`s that sit over the beautiful river with a cool drink in your hand or there’s lots of hidden places to enjoy the beauty of nature whilst strolling over the quaint little wooden bridges.. You may find you want to take a dip in the crystal clear lake that originates from the waterfall or if you’re brave enough jump from one of the several diving platforms.
There is also a mini animal farm where you can meet the ducks, chickens, rabbits, donkeys and many other animals so perfect for children, but what makes it so enchanting is the way they place the tents that the locals rent. They are situated up in the trees or on little platforms over the water, all adding to the magical atmosphere. We will have a light lunch here where you can sample anything from Kebabs to Burgers washed down with a cool drink or glass of Turkish Cay.
Around 4pm, we leave from there to go to Katrancı bay. You may have driven past this beautiful bay and seen the popular photo stop whilst on route to Fethiye, from the road it looks stunning. Well now, you have to chance to visit it just as the locals do. Katrancı is surrounded by beautiful pine and eucalyptus forests, and is often frequented by Turkish people, and among the forest are little wooden huts and tents for camping. There is a wonderful restaurant in the bay that serves delicious food and has sun-beds on the beach. The owner is a friend of Volkan’s so we will have our own reserved tables and sun-beds and will be well looked after. There is also shower and changing facilities available. You may fancy catching the last rays of the day, a swim, a walk exploring into the surrounding forest, or just watch the world go by with a refreshing drink. Whatever you decide to do you will love the stunning scenery and see Turks, Turks, and more Turks, maybe you can practice those few words of Turkish you picked up earlier.
As the Day rolls into night, we will have our dinner looking out over the bay and watching the sun set. You will be able to make a choice from the menu at the restaurant and enjoy delicious food with your new friends and maybe a couple of Turks. Once dinner is finished we will head back on to the bus for the 50 minute drive back, arriving in Dalyan between 9.00-10,00pm depending on the season and Sunset. One thing you can be guaranteed is you will be immersed in local life and can be sure of a warm friendly welcome everywhere. The perfect day.
