This is our second Small Group Trial Tour, exclusively available in April and May. While most travelers head straight for the coast, this journey takes us inland to discover the “soul” of the region. Designed for the curious traveler, this trial focuses on local immersion and living history, staying flexible to truly connect with the people and places we visit.
The Itinerary
09:30 – 10:00 | Departure from Dalyan
A slightly later start allows for a relaxed morning before we head north toward the heart of the Muğla province.
11:00 | Stratonikeia: The City of Gladiators
We begin at Stratonikeia, one of the largest marble cities in the world. Your entrance fee is included. What makes this site unique is the “living history”—ancient Greek and Roman ruins sit side-by-side with Ottoman houses and a village mosque. It’s a hauntingly beautiful walk through layers of time.
13:00 | Lunch at the 300-Year-Old Mill
Prepare for an unforgettable culinary experience. We visit a restored 300-year-old water mill for an included authentic lunch. This isn’t just a meal; it’s a journey into Turkish flavors, featuring slow-cooked local specialties and fresh ingredients in a setting that feels frozen in time.
15:00 | Belen Village & The Turkish Art House
We continue to the picturesque village of Belen. We’ll visit a local Turkish Art House, where traditional crafts and aesthetics are kept alive. You’ll get a firsthand look at the artistic heritage that defines this region.
16:00 | 250 Years of History: Meet the Locals
Step inside a 250-year-old traditional local house. Here, we move beyond sightseeing; you’ll have the chance to meet local residents, hear their stories, and learn about the customs of village life that have remained unchanged for centuries.
17:30 | Muğla City & The Old Arasta Bazaar
We drive into the provincial capital, Muğla, famous for its preserved architecture and “chimneys.” We’ll wander through the Old Arasta Bazaar, a bustling hub of local tradesmen. Take some free time to shop for authentic textiles or copperware.
19:00 | Traditional Coffee & Reflections
Before we depart, we’ll sit down for a traditional Turkish coffee in the heart of the old town—the perfect moment to reflect on the day’s discoveries as the city slows down.
20:00 | Return to Dalyan
We arrive back in Dalyan, having traded the beach for a deep dive into the authentic Turkish interior.

Why “Guinea Pig”?
This tour is about connection. Because we are a small trial group, we have the freedom to spend a little extra time chatting with the locals we meet or lingering over coffee in the bazaar. Your feedback helps us build a bridge between travelers and local communities.
