On this exclusive Dalyan Excursion we will take you on a dream-like journey that stretches between the Aegean and the Mediterranean coastline of Turkey. You will experience all the highlights of the beautiful Turquoise Coast. Splendid seaside locations and a unique atmosphere. The delightful town of Kaş with its winding streets and tiny shops. The Ancient city of Patara, and the pretty harbour of Kalkan. Join us for a day full of joy and laughter, unforgettable memories of some of Turkeys favourite resorts on Mediterranean Highlights Tour.
Breakfast
Firstly our amazing day will start as we collect you from your accommodation between 08.30am and 09.00am. After a short journey we will stop at a wonderful restaurant beside the sea where you will enjoy an immaculate Turkish breakfast. It will be full of sweet jams and honeys, delicious cheeses, perfectly harvested fruits and vegetables, freshly baked breads, organically grown olives and much more. This will set you up for the day ahead.
Once we arrive in Patara we will spend time exploring the ancient city. Patara takes its name from the important archaeological site, Patara Antic City. Patara Ancient City, founded in 5th century B.C., was one of the most important cities of Lycian Empire. Still to do this day you can see the ruins of the Senate Building and the very well preserved amphitheatre, stone sarcophagi and town walls. Theres a very interesting fact about how this Ancient city was discovered which we will share with you.
Kaş
Next after our visit to Patara we will head towards Kaş which is a 50 minute journey. It will take us on a picturesque coastal route to where the mixture of Roman Greek architecture and authentic Turkish atmosphere will welcome us. Kaş is a picture postcard town and is set on the ancient site of Antiphellos. If you walk around the town, you can still see some of the visible ruins dotted around. The town centre has whitewashed, and ottoman style houses covered in bougainvillea. In addition it has steep winding streets, tiny boutique shops and relaxing ambient bars. You will be able to enjoy up to 2 hours free time in this quaint little picture postcard town.
Kalkan
After enjoying our free time in the town, we take the 30 minute drive back along the coast road to the picturesque and charming town of Kalkan. Again you will have the opportunity to walk alongside the harbour and to the beach. Or alternatively you can enjoy a drink or spend some time shopping, or maybe you can have a dip in the sparkling sea. You will have approx. 1 hour free time here before we meet for late lunch/ dinner . We have in dinner in one of best locations in Kalkan. The views from the restaurant look out over the sea and are stunning. Also depending on the time of year you can see some amazing sunsets from here ( early & late season) .
Tired, happy and full of memories we then take the journey home arriving back in Dalyan between 9.00-9.30pm. This is a long day but the time will fly and you will see many amazing sights. What a fantastic day out! Volkan really has raised the bar with this one. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, search no further. Volkan made every part of this ‘adventure’ special. Starting with breakfast, picnic style on the bus, lunch overlooking Kalkan harbour and the grand finale of dinner by candlelight on the beach.
If you want to try something that no one else in Dalyan is offering this trip is for you.
Absolutely wonderful trip, I took my mother along with me as she has always wanted to visit kas and we had a fabulous day, everything was just perfect. Very relaxed atmosphere and the agenda allowed plenty of opportunity to sit and enjoy your surroundings if you want to, or to fill your time completely with a wide range of things to see and do if you want to stay more active- something for everyone and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves so thanks to the team for a great trip, hope to see you all soon.
Wow! What and amazing day. Yes, it is a long day, but you see and experience so much, so don’t let that put you off. Starting with the superb breakfast in the sunshine in a village close to Gocek, then amazing views and scenery you experience at every stage of the trip. The incredible ruins at Patara followed by a relaxing break (in the bar, on our visit!) on Patara Beach. A superb lunch in a restaurant overlooking the harbour in Kalkan, then time on the delightful pebble beach with a swim in the crystal clear water (swim optional!). Finally, the wonderful drive down the coast to Kas, where we had free time to explore the town followed by a drink together in a bar full of atmosphere on the edge of the town square. And to end the day, another superb two course meal at the beachside restaurant on the pebble beach, just outside Kas. It was a brilliant, but informal and relaxed day with a delightful group of people and an excellent, friendly guide in Murat. If you want to experience the real Turkey, this trip is a ‘no brainer’! and exceptionally good value. Thank you, Volkan and Murat for such a great day!
I can only endorse everything that Brian says above!! It is a long day but full of delights and a chance to see the scenery, beaches, ruins and resorts near to Dalyan . Our breakfast was st a farm and the ducks and kittens were a joy ( when not stealing your bread) ! It’s worth doing a little online research beforehand to fully appreciate the importance in ancient times of Patara. A memorable day big take comfy shoes and crocs for the pebble beach at the end .
We have been on a number of tours with Volkans Adventures and enjoyed every one. My favourite was The Mediterranean Highlights visiting Kalkan and Kas, although the it was a long day it was so worth it. Our guide was very knowledgable, attentive and entertaining. We had 3 meals on this tour (included in the price) which were all fantastic. Met some lovely people and made some lovely friends.
Me and my Husband had a really beautiful day out, our tour guide made it really special from start to finish I would highly recommend these Adventures. Going through the local villages and looking at all the hand crafted pottery and souvenirs, our tour guide made it really feel like we were just a group of friends on a trip together.
It is, as the description says, a long day but it is well worth it. The breakfast was delicious and set the day of to a great start and allowed time to get to know fellow guests. The drives during the day were through spectacular scenery and there was always something interesting to see. Kalkan was a lovely town and we had lunch in a gorgeous restaurant with Sparta ulnar views. For me, the highlight of the day was Kas. Such a picturesque town. Round all of this off with a lovely meal by the beach. Recipe for a perfect day. Thanks Julie for making the day so enjoyable.
We did this trip a couple of years ago. It was excellent a long day but well worth it. Loved Kas and Kalkan. We will be going again this year can’t wait.
We went on this trip with Julie and her crew, what a fabulous day we had. The time flew past. The whole day was truly magical as was the food.
